Clarice Beckettes shine at Menzies Austumn Auction

In April, six paintings by Clarice Beckett from the collection of our client, Dale Trezise, were auctioned at Menzies in South Yarra. The auction produced outstanding results.

Four  of the six Beckett paintings on offer had been bought by Dale’s late husband as a birthday gift. The fifth of the group was bought at the same time because Dale couldn’t bear leaving it behind! All the works featured outstanding provenance, having come from Clarice’s sister Hilda through to Dr Rosalind Hollinrake and then onto Canberra collector and gallerist, Ruth Prowse. Spookily, five of the six featured in an exhibition I curated on Beckett at the Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery in 2006.
